Why STREAMLINED?

Posted on March 7, 2009 at 1:07 AM

Okay, so today I thought up a great name for my blog. It was just one of those rare, precious "Ah-Ha!" moments. Really, I was just expecting to stick to "My Blog" until this clever name Streamlined came to mind. So, you may be asking, Devon, why streamlined?

Well, my friend, a variety of reasons. First, streamlining is to design or improve an object as to increase its efficiency. Wow, that sounds a lot like Industrial Engineers--individuals who are in the business of efficiency and streamlining processes, people, and operations. Check one.

Streamlining has an origin with the railroads, where cars were first streamlined to improve their looks and functions, leading to the sleek streamliners of the 1940s and 1950s. Therefore, railroads and transportation, and a name that has its origin with my intended field. Check two.

It's memorable, different, and relates to what I want to convey in my postings. Check three, four, and five.

So that's how the name was derived. A random thought. After all, I'm writing about my experiences, adventures, career, part-time job--you name it--and then streamlining it to you via the internet.

Now to work on a slogan. All in good time, all in good time. Any ideas?
